Sustainable Solutions for Legacy Equipment: The Role of Custom Rubber Parts
In recognition of Earth Day, we’re highlighting a project that shows how using custom rubber parts for legacy equipment can support sustainability efforts.
Recently, a major industrial plant faced a challenge: critical legacy machinery required many large rubber parts that were no longer available from the original manufacturer. Replacing all of their machines would have led to increased costs, downtime, and environmental waste. Repairing equipment rather than replacing it is a recommended sustainable practice that helps protect both business resources and the environment [EPA].
Seeking a more sustainable solution, the plant turned to Aero Rubber for assistance. Our team collaborated closely with their engineers to understand specifications and operational demands. Through this partnership, we developed intricate, large, custom molded EPDM parts tailored to their needs. This effectively extended the machinery’s service life, eliminating the need for expensive new equipment, and preventing additional downtime and waste.
This project highlights the power of custom rubber parts in reducing waste and supporting eco-friendly business practices, helping companies get more value from their existing assets while reducing their environmental footprint.
